Things went catastrophically wrong. It was a real train wreck. We tried to {compensate|handle the situation, but it was like trying to stop a blizzard with a spoon. We're still picking up the shards and feeling the impact of this unmitigated catastrophe.

Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Awful Day Ever

It all started with the case of morning hair. I couldn't do it to look presentable. As I was dashing out the door, I trippedon and spilled all over myself. To make matters worse, I was completely running behind for work.

I flustered. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was pointless.

The rest of the day was even worse. went wrong. I stay awake.

By the time I got home, I was utterly defeated. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

It all started out badly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to check here scream into a pillow.
